The website is designed as a blog platform for information and exchange between cultural figures and those interested in the history of Armenian visual art.
It is based on the heritage of three generations of artists:
- Harutyun Harmandanyan Kalentz (Galentz) – 1910-1967
- Armine Baronyan-Kalentz (Galentz) – 1920-2007
- Saro Galentz – 1946-2017
- And on the activities of curator and gallerist Harutyun Archi Galentz – born 1971, who has been researching the work of his predecessors for more than 25 years.
The site will not only help to organize information about the rich heritage of these artists, about publications and upcoming studies, but also help in creating an independent institute based on a part of Harutyun Galents’ home-museum in Yerevan, after its restructuring.
The Institute, the Galenz Research Center, will support art-history and cultural studies and engage in extensive educational activities.
The center is not only about the work of artists from the Galents family.
We are especially interested in the work of repatriate artists to Soviet Armenia, as well as works, photographs or other evidence of creativity of:
- Petros Kontrajyan,
- Manuk Ghrdian
and others, including little-known repatriate artists.

We are also interested in the phenomenon of Armenian surrealism, in the diaspora and especially in Soviet Armenia of the 70s-80s, in visual arts and in the cinema or theater.
We place great importance on contemporary exhibition projects where “Armenian Art“ is presented, such as, the Biennale of Contemporary Art, where there is an urgent need for strategies that unite the diaspora and the Armenian Republic into a single cultural context.
